During a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Aubrey Plaza recalled an incident when she had fallen sick while living with Patti LuPone. According to Parks and Recreation star, LuPone had advised Plaza to see her “special nurse.”

Upon arriving, the nurse asked if Aubrey Plaza wanted to take what Patti LuPone uses to help her sleep. Plaza said she agreed without realizing that she would be injected with a strong dose of Benadryl. “It was like a horse tranquilizer for me. And she walked in when I was just mid-tranquilizer and I couldn’t talk,” Plaza recollected while imitating LuPone’s shocked reaction to the results.

After getting fed with an English muffin treat by LuPone, Plaza questioned her friend about the bizarre ordeal. “And she went, ‘It’s happening because you are on the stage now and you need to toughen up. And that is why it’s happening,’” Plaza said.

Despite her minor health scare, Plaza said that she still considers Patti LuPone a close friend. Aside from the Benadryl anecdote, Plaza also revealed that the Tony award recipient was the one who encouraged her to do a play for the first time in her career.

The two currently have pivotal roles in the MCU series Agatha All Along. The ongoing series has already aired its first three episodes, with the remaining episodes set to come out every Wednesday throughout October.
