Marvel’s Agatha All Along follows Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn), a powerful witch who decides to travel on the Witches’ Road to regain her magical abilities. She was previously trapped in Westview, New Jersey, following her battle with Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). As Wanda is an integral part of Agatha’s story, there are a lot of speculations about whether the Scarlet Witch will appear in Agatha All Along. Recently, Jac Schaeffer, who created both WandaVision and Agatha All Along, addressed the issue.
Jac Schaeffer plays coy about Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch cameo in Agatha All Along
Showrunner Jac Schaeffer didn’t reveal much when she was asked whether Elizabeth Olsen would make a cameo appearance as Scarlet Witch in Agatha All Along. Instead, she spoke about how the series was focused on Agatha’s journey.
“There was a lot of consideration,” Schaeffer said. “That’s a great way of articulating it: her shadow. Agatha is not a character who’s going to stand in anyone’s shadow. So this is emphatically Agatha Harkness’ show. However, we are in the WandaVision corner of the universe, so Wanda’s legacy has threads in this narrative. But, yeah, it is about Agatha. It’s about her journey, it’s about the truth of her, and that is very much our focus with the show.”
It makes sense for Schaeffer to be evasive about a potential cameo by Olsen. After all, the character is believed to have died in the 2022 movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Olsen did return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for What If…? Season 2. However, the character she voiced in two episodes of the series was a variant of the mainstream Scarlet Witch.
Earlier this month, Elizabeth Olsen appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and discussed what happened to her character. Although she confirmed that Wanda was dead but added that she would “beg to leave a window open” for her return, because she had “so much fun doing these movies.”
