As Deadpool & Wolverine approaches its streaming release, new details have emerged about cut scenes and characters. One of these is a scrapped cameo featuring a white Nick Fury variant. Stunt performer David Macdonald wore the character’s outfit and was set to reference David Hasselhoff’s 1998 portrayal in Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., as revealed in a social media post.
A white Nick Fury variant almost appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine
New behind-the-scenes images from Deadpool & Wolverine reveal a scrapped cameo featuring a white Nick Fury variant. Fans spotted stunt performer David Macdonald wearing an outfit reminiscent of David Hasselhoff’s 1998 portrayal of Nick Fury in Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The filmmakers originally planned to include this white Nick Fury in the multiverse cameos. However, despite showcasing the character’s costume in set photos, they cut the cameo from the final version of the film. Macdonald’s character did not appear, leaving fans to speculate about his intended role.
Deadpool & Wolverine features multiverse appearances from characters like Channing Tatum’s Gambit, Wesley Snipes’ Blade, and Jennifer Garner’s Elektra. The decision to remove the white Nick Fury variant was likely due to the movie’s packed roster, with several characters ultimately cut due to time and budget constraints.
Director Shawn Levy previously told Variety that there was “a 70-name menu of Marvel characters” they were considering for the film, including characters like Ben Affleck’s Daredevil and possibly David Hasselhoff’s Nick Fury:
“Early on, when we were looking at a 70-name menu of Marvel characters, Daredevil was on one of those lists, but never since those earliest of conversations, and never to the point of outreach or offers or anything like that. We made contact with everyone featured in the Fox tribute reel halfway through our end credits — and that’s dozens of actors who have been a part of that legacy. That was fun to build a love letter to those years, those characters, and all the actors who played them.”
Deadpool & Wolverine will soon be available to stream on Disney Plus, with the digital release available on Tuesday, October 1.
