Jac Schaeffer reveals scrapped idea to kill off Evan Peters’ Quicksilver in WandaVision
Showrunner Jac Schaeffer was recently promoting Agatha All Along in an interview. There, she talked about the show and her original plans with WandaVision.
During the conversation with TheWrap, the interviewer questioned Schaeffer about the first episode of Agatha All Along. It carries a true crime theme, which is a tribute to shows like True Detective. As per the outlet, in the pilot episode, the titular purple witch is still captured in Wanda Maximoff’s spell. Meanwhile, the latter’s status as alive is still a question.
Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness portrays the role of a detective in the episode, believing she is Agnes O’Connor. However, she is then joined by Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal and Joe Locke’s Teen, who arrive to help her break away from the spell.
The interviewer questioned Schaeffer about the true crime theme she chose for the first two episodes. Answering the purpose behind it, she revealed the true crime theme was originally set to be a part of WandaVision.
Schaeffer said, “So, it was always the design that (Agatha) would start with this true crime episode. That was an idea that I had when I pitched WandaVision. It was going to be the eighth episode of WandaVision, that was going to be like a CSI episode, and she was going to be solving the murder of Pietro (Evan Peters’ Quicksilver). He was the one on the slab. But it was her way, sort of like, to break out of what was going on, and for her to, like, fully understand what’s going on.”
The Agatha All Along creator further revealed that the idea was not adapted into the final story of WandaVision. She asserted, “Once we got in the writer’s room and really started putting that together, it was clear that we needed to have discipline in our approach to WandaVision.”
