Jeff Bridges, who portrayed the villain Obadiah Stane in the original Iron Man film, has expressed interest in returning to the role.

In a recent interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Bridges acknowledged the possibility of reprising the character, stating, “Who knows? It’s all science fiction and I could maybe pop up again.”

Bridges also hinted that Stane’s fate was originally left open-ended in an early version of the Iron Man script. “Well, when I read the script, Obadiah Stane falls into that big vat at the end,” Bridges revealed. “In the script that I read and agreed to do, they pulled my suit out and they opened it and I’m not there.”

Though filmmakers never filmed this sequence, it suggests that the future MCU projects could explore Stane’s survival, possibly through flashbacks or twists that reframe his demise. This revelation has fueled fan theories about a potential comeback for the character.

Bridges also mentioned Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday and expressed his excitement, stating, “But he’s playing a bad guy! I love that!” Although no official announcement about Bridges’ return exists, his comments suggest that Obadiah Stane may still have a future in the MCU.

The original Iron Man, which came out in 2008, is now streaming on Disney Plus in the United States.
