Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch remains one of Marvel’s fan-favorite characters. But following the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, her MCU future remains to be a mystery. The question of Scarlet Witch’s death persists but many fans still hope for her return in future projects. Fortunately, Olsen has provided answers for both aspects.
Elizabeth Olsen wants to ‘cleverly’ make Scarlet Witch return to MCU
Along with thousands of Wanda-stans and many MCU fans, Elizabeth Olsen also hopes to return in her Marvel avatar. She recently confirmed Scarlet Witch’s demise but wishes for her death to be reversed in a way that makes sense.
In her recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Olsen was seen promoting her latest movie, His Three Daughters. But before getting to it, Kimmel asked who could win in a fight between Thor and Wanda. Following her answer about how Wanda would defeat Thor, the actress confirmed the current status of her MCU character.
When Kimmel inquired whether the Scarlet Witch was truly dead, Olsen replied, “I think so. I assume as much.” She also described what happened in Multiverse of Madness. Olsen said that “there was a red light of explosive energy,” under the debris, adding, “I think I’m dead.”
Upon being asked about keeping a window open for her return, Elizabeth Olsen said, “I would beg to leave a window open. I had so much fun doing these movies.” Besides, she doesn’t want to undo what happened in the past, but wants to “figure out how to cleverly be undead.”
Additionally, Olsen stated that Marvel should “find the smartest writers to figure out how to make this all make sense.” She concluded the Marvel conversation by saying, “I’m open to ideas.”

How Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch could return to the MCU
There are certain ways Marvel could bring Wanda Maximoff back. One of the easiest plot devices would be to use a multiversal variant. Another idea could be explored through time travel.
But despite Olsen, Feige, and several others claiming that Wanda is dead, one popular theory states that her MCU story could be continued from where Multiverse of Madness left things. It suggests that the red burst of energy that Olsen mentioned above could be a force field keeping Wanda alive in stasis under all the rubble at Mount Wundagore. Also, she could be woken up from that state in a future MCU series or movie.
To make an educated guess, four projects including Agatha All Along, the Vision Quest series, Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars could see Wanda’s return happen. But with rumors of a solo Scarlet Witch movie circling, many would be interested to see where she makes her comeback.
Before that, Elizabeth Olsen fans could catch her in His Three Daughters, which hits Netflix on September 20, 2024.
