Marvel’s latest addition to their ever-expanding Disney Plus roster, Agatha All Along, is fast approaching its release date. The spin-off series will focus on the journey of Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha, following her appearance in WandaVision. Recently, Mary Livanos, a longtime Marvel producer, has come out to reveal that a standalone series for the fantastical character wasn’t originally planned.
Marvel’s Mary Livanos praises Kathryn Hahn for making Agatha All Along possible
According to Livanos, Agatha All Along was only made possible due to Kathryn Hahn’s “enthusiasm and love for the character.”
During her recent appearance on The Official Marvel Podcast, the Marvel executive stated Hahn’s importance to the show. “Kathryn absolutely made Agatha all her own,” Livanos revealed. “And, I think her enthusiasm and love for the character is what elicited that incredible fan response to Agatha in WandaVision. It’s really hats off to Hahn. It’s because of her we get to do Agatha All Along and continue her story,” she added. (via ComicBook)
The Marvels executive producer also shed light on how Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha came to be in the WandaVision series. “We wanted Agatha to be a part of WandaVision because Agatha is a great part of the Scarlet Witch’s backstory. But, as folks now know, Agatha is a relatively obscure character from the comics,” she said. “And, we were really desperate to find the perfect Agatha for WandaVision. Luckily enough, Kathryn Hahn had been coming in to meet for a general meeting with Louis D’Esposito and was asked to join, just off-hand,” Livanos further stated.
The much-awaited WandaVision spin-off series is set to make its debut on Disney Plus on September 18, 2024. It will revolve around Agatha’s journey to the Witches’ Road, accompanied by her newly recruited coven of witches. Alongside Hahn, the show will also feature Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, and Aubrey Plaza, among others, in pivotal roles.
