Deadpool & Wolverine Box Office Crosses Major Milestone, Inches Closer to The Avengers

Deadpool & Wolverine continues to maintain a prominent presence at the box office. Last weekend, it crossed a major milestone by making $600 million at the domestic box office, inching closer to what The Avengers (2012) made during the entirety of its run.

Deadpool & Wolverine hits $600 million at the domestic box office

Deadpool & Wolverine has earned over $19 million at the domestic box office during the extended Labor Day weekend (August 30 to September 2), taking the North American tally to $603.8 million and nearing to domestic total of the first Avengers movie. If the current trend continues, Deadpool & Wolverine will soon be among the highest-grossing MCU movies domestically. (via Box Office Mojo)

At the global box office, the movie has made $1.258 billion as of weekend 6 and is now the seventh highest-grossing MCU movie worldwide.

Disney projects have done particularly well at the Labor Day weekend box office this year. Besides Deadpool & Wolverine, Inside Out 2 and Alien: Romulus are both still in theaters. The former has become the ninth highest-grossing movie of all time last weekend, surpassing the 2019 remake of The Lion King. Meanwhile, Alien: Romulus is performing notably well and has made over $90 million at the domestic box office as of Monday, September 2, and $285.7 million globally.

These Labor Day numbers secure Disney’s place at the top of the list of studios that have released movies in Summer 2024. As of early September, Disney’s projects for 2024 have cumulatively made $1.53 billion at the box office. This is a 121% increase over the previous year’s $692 million.

Deadpool & Wolverine premiered in US theaters on July 26, 2024. Aside from its record-breaking box office performance, the movie has done relatively well with critics. It currently has a 78% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes after 393 reviews. The cast includes Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson / Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as Logan / Wolverine, Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, and Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Paradox.
