Charlie Cox‘s first official appearance in the MCU as Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, through his cameo in the 2021 movie Spider-Man: No Way Home produced cheers from fans in theatres. However, Cox recently dropped some information about another reference to Daredevil that was going to be in the movie. This easter egg would have referenced Ben Affleck’s 2003 Daredevil movie, but it didn’t make it to the final cut of No Way Home. Here is what Charlie Cox said about the scene in a recent interaction with fans.

Charlie Cox shares deleted Spider-Man: No Way Home joke teasing Ben Affleck’s Daredevil

Before Charlie Cox took the mantle of Daredevil and fought crime in New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen, Ben Affleck’s portrayal of the superhero was the one most movie-going audiences knew.

As per a report by ComicBook.com, Cox recently sat down for a chat with fans at the Tampa Bay Comic Con, where he shared some exciting details about his cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home. According to Cox, there was at one point a joke in the scene with Cox’s Matt Murdock, Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan, and Tom Holland’s Peter Parker where Favreau’s portrayal of Matt Murdock’s law partner, Foggy Nelson, from the 2003 Daredevil movie was referenced.

Charlie Cox said, ”In Spider-Man I got to do a scene with Jon Favreau who I love. He also plays Foggy in that film [Daredevil 2003]. I’m not sure if it made it into the movie in the end, but we tried to get a pun in, like a little Easter egg, where I ask him a question, and Jon’s character Happy says, ‘Yeah, I’m a little foggy on that right now.’ I don’t know if it made it into the movie, I can’t remember, but we played with it on the day, hoping people would pick up on it.”

However, this reference to Ben Affleck’s Daredevil was ultimately cut from the final version of the film.
