The Boys Season 5: Vought Explains What Happened to A-Train

It might be a while before The Boys Season 5 comes out on Amazon Prime Video, but a steady supply of in-universe updates through the show’s social media accounts is keeping fans in the loop about what to expect in the upcoming season. Recently, through their in-universe Vought International X (formerly Twitter) account, The Boys disclosed how A-Train’s absence in Season 5 will be handled within the narrative of the series.

Vought addresses A-Train’s absence in The Boys Season 5’s story

In a new post on X, Vought International announced that the Supe known as A-Train “is being deployed overseas effective immediately.” They further shared that “all details” pertaining to the mission would remain “confidential, both for his safety and the safety of the free world.”

In the bleak and brutal world of The Boys, the superheroes are narcissistic sociopaths with little regard for the lives ordinary people. The series premiere underscores this when A-Train accidentally kills Hughie’s former girlfriend Robin Ward by running through her. However, in the course of the show, he undergoes remarkable character development.

In Season 4, he struggles with the idea of heroism and experiences shame about what he has become. He eventually agrees to work as a mole for the Boys in the Seven, albeit reluctantly and shows up to save them during the Deep and Black Noir II’s attack. By the time Homelander and Vought realize that the leak they had been searching for all this while is actually A-Train, the latter and his family seem to have disappeared.

Within the context of the show, Vought can’t publicly accept one of the members of the Seven has defected. So, they have put out the above post about A-Train’s absence.

As per multiple reports, The Boys Season 5 can come out sometime in 2026. Even if A-Train doesn’t appear in it, we may get more updates on his whereabouts.
