With Daredevil: Born Again bringing back old Netflix Marvel characters, the question of Mike Colter’s return as Luke Cage has also been brought up by many. Will the actor reprise his role? To answer the question, Colter has teased the possibility of making his MCU debut as Luke Cage.
Mike Colter ‘would love to’ return as Luke Cage for the right story
Colter last appeared as Power Man, aka Luke Cage, in 2018. While there’s no word on what Marvel plans to do with the character in MCU, Mike Colter is enthusiastic about a return, if given the opportunity. He was recently asked about his return as Luke Cage and confirmed that he “would love to explore it.”
Speaking with ComicBook.com, he said:
“I would love to explore it, if they found some story, some way, somewhere, to take it. And I’m happy that Charlie Cox and those are getting it rebooted, but I don’t have any [idea if Luke Cage is getting rebooted]. I’m not holding anything back.”
He further addressed the major changes brought to Daredevil: Born Again’s story, with the series getting new showrunners after scrapping its original reboot idea.
“I think that’s the right move. They should have never tried [to reboot it.] No, no, I don’t know what that was about. I’m like, ‘Well, yeah, duh,’ It was not broke, so don’t fix it,” Colter added.
Since Daredevil: Born Again is likely picking things up from where Season 3 left them, and the Netflix Marvel shows officially became MCU canon, Mike Colter can also reprise his role as Luke Cage when the opportunity arises. But, nothing is confirmed at the moment of writing.
With Daredevil: Born Again confirmed to get a second season, it could involve other Netflix characters like Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, similar to how the first one includes Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page, and Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson.
It hits Disney Plus in March 2025, which is when MCU fans could get more clarity on the future of characters such as Luke Cage.
