Absolute Power #2 Confirms DC Comics’ Greatest Leader

The heroes of DC Comics boast a variety of skills, talents, and training, apart from their powers. Many of them are great leaders, capable of taking charge in a crisis and devising a strategy in seconds. However, the events of Absolute Power #2 confirm one hero as the best leader of them all.

Written by Mark Waid, with art by Dan Mora, Absolute Power #2 finds the heroes of Earth-Prime on the run from Amanda Waller. Taking shelter in the Fortress of Solitude, they began formulating a plan of attack. Unfortunately, the assemblage of strong personalities quickly come into conflict.

Wonder Woman and Aquaman are quick to cite their experience to command as royalty. Batman and Mister Terrific jockey for position as the two smartest people in the room. Superman is also nominated, though his thoughts are more on his missing son than the current crisis. It seems that the alliance is doomed to fail before it begins, until one voice rises above the others to take charge.

Surrounded by the Titans, Nightwing speaks to the assembled heroes about why they will win. Yes, some of them have lost their powers, but that has never stopped them from trying to help people before. With that done, he outlines everything they have to do, and assembles squads to get those tasks done.

Dick Grayson is widely regarded as the best leader in DC Comics and Absolute Power #2 showcases why this is so. More than being a master strategist, Nightwing knows how to play a crowd and how to bring people together. He respects others for their abilities and is almost universally respected in turn. Nothing speaks to his skill better than Batman’s clear pride in his protégé, and his whispering to Mister Terrific, “That’s my boy.”

Absolute Power #2 is now available at comic shops everywhere.
