Jared Leto‘s titular character in Tron: Ares has been unveiled in all his digital glory.
Disney has announced the official start of production on location in Vancouver for Joachim Rønning‘s third Tron installment starring the Oscar-winning actor. Additionally, the studio has released the first image from the threequel showcasing Leto’s Ares in his fully red-lit body suit inside the infamous mainframe cyberspace.
Tron: Ares continues the events that began with 1982’s groundbreaking sci-fi adventure Tron and its 2010 sequel Tron: Legacy. Disney’s official synopsis for Tron: Ares reads that the upcoming installment “follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.”

Leto’s co-stars in Tron: Ares include Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson. Rønning directs from a screenplay by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne. Sean Bailey, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer, Jared Leto, Emma Ludbrook, and Steven Lisberger are the producers, with Russell Allen serving as executive producer.
Tron: Ares is slated for release in theaters in 2025.
