Ms. Marvel Star Reveals Her Dream Season 2 Villain

Iman Vellani, who debuted as the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s Kamala Khan in the Ms. Marvel TV series, has an idea for the villain she could go up against in a potential Season 2.

“Definitely Doc.X,” Vellani said when asked about her choice of antagonists in an interview with The Direct. “I think that’s a great villain from the comics and can really resonate with the Gen Z audience.”

In addition to playing Kamala in Ms. Marvel and The Marvels and voicing her in the upcoming Marvel Zombies, Vellani is a writer on the Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant comic series, teaming with co-writer Sabir Pirzada and artists Carlos Gómez and Adam Gorham. Vellani has often expressed her love for the character and for Marvel Comics in general, even challenging Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige with her encyclopedic knowledge, so she easily has answers at hand when it comes to Ms. Marvel’s comic history.

Referring to Doc.X, a sentient virus which reaches Kamala through an online game and manipulates her into doing its will, Vellani said, “It would be so interesting — I don’t know, messing with kids’ psyche almost when you have this villain who only exists on your phone, and on your laptops, and on all your screens that we can’t avoid. I think it’d be really interesting position to put them all in to fight against something that you can’t even see, right?”

“Yeah, that’s one of my favorite comic storylines,” she concluded. “So I would love to see that play out.”

Season 1 of Ms. Marvel aired on Disney+ in 2022, introducing Vellani’s Kamala, a teenage girl who idolizes Captain Marvel and soon discovers that she has superpowers of her own. At this time, a second season has not been announced, but Vellani has said that she hopes Feige will green-light it.
