Despero Plays Mind Games with Barry in The Flash Episode 8.02 Promo

Nearly four months after the end of The Flash season 7, the fastest man alive sped back on to The CW for new adventures. The freshly-debuted season 8 kicked off with the first installment in the five-episode crossover featuring Barry Allen and his dearest friends. In addition to bringing back some familiar faces like Dr. Ray Palmer, the premiere introduced Despero, the big villain ready to take over Earth. After showing his actual physical appearance — way more comic-book accurate than initially teased — the alien from the planet Kalanor had no difficulty taking care of the titular hero, who managed to stay alive only thanks to the prompt intervention of The Atom. Despero is now playing mind games with Barry, who now looks to Freeland and Black Lightning for counsel.

Menhaj Huda directed the episode written by Jonathan Butler and Gabriel Garza. The official synopsis for “Armageddon, Part Two” reads:

“THE FLASH SEEKS HELP FROM BLACK LIGHTNING – Despero (guest star Tony Curran) warns The Flash (Grant Gustin) that great tragedies will befall the speedster and cause him to lose his mind. Once that happens, Armageddon will begin. Determined to prove Despero wrong, Barry doubles down on proving his innocence but a devastating revelation from Iris (Candice Patton) pushes him to the edge and sends him to seek counsel from Black Lightning (guest star Cress Williams).”

The next episode of The Flash season 8 will debut on The CW on November 23.
