Two of the newest additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe are officially spinning off into their own TV shows. During today’s Disney+ Day event, Marvel Studios announced that Kathryn Hahn will reprise her critically-acclaimed WandaVision role in Agatha: House of Harkness. Additionally, Alaqua Cox, soon to be seen in Marvel’s upcoming Hawkeye series, will be starring in Echo.

Rumors about an Agatha Harkness series began making the rounds last month, so this news isn’t all that surprising. Hahn’s performance easily made her WandaVision’s breakout character and eventually netted her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. The last time we saw Agatha, Wanda had trapped her in her sitcom persona in the suburban town of Westview. It’s not clear if House of Harkness intends to pick up where WandaVision left off. But since the latter show’s penultimate episode established that Agatha doesn’t age, the new series could also be a prequel.
Whatever the case, viewers shouldn’t expect Agatha to be confined to Disney+. Back in October, Deadline reported that Hahn signed a larger deal with Marvel that covers appearances on the big screen as well.

Meanwhile, Cox’s Maya Lopez/Echo is still one of the lesser-known superheroes in the Marvel pantheon. But clearly, the studio is hoping to make her a household name starting with her introduction on Hawkeye this month. The series’ trailers have shown very little of Cox’s role thus far. Regardless, her status as one of very few deaf comic book characters definitely makes her unique.
