A month from now, the Resident Evil film franchise will reboot with Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. The producers are currently amping up their promotion for the movie, which, unlike previous adaptations, is expected to stay faithful to the horror video game story. In the latest promotional Welcome to Raccoon City videos, director Johannes Roberts introduces the protagonists, Claire and Chris Redfield, to a non-gaming general audience.
First to receive her character vignette is Kaya Scodelario’s Claire. The video features some fresh footage, and underlines the rebellious nature of the young woman.
“In our story, Claire Redfield is a runaway from Raccoon City,” Roberts said. “She has run away because she feels something is very wrong there. Now, she’s coming back to tell her brother some important information.”

Next, Roberts gives Robbie Amell’s Chris the spotlight. In the story, Chris Redfield is called to become more than he ever imagined, and has to do it quickly. In his featurette, Amell stresses that the movie is adapting some sequences from the video game almost exactly.
“Chris Redfield is a small-town hero,” director Roberts added. “Now, he’s part of the Raccoon City Police Force. Chris has to become more than just a small-town hero; he has to become this action hero.”
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City premiere in theaters on November 24.
