Live-Action Cowboy Bebop Series Gets New Comic and Book Tie-Ins

Earlier this week, we finally got our first look at the cast of Netflix’s live-action Cowboy Bebop series. Now, the show’s universe is about to expand with a little help from Titan Books. Over the next several months, Netflix and Titan will be rolling out several new books that tie into the events of the series. Additionally, a coffee table book will give readers new insights into the series’ production.

In November, fans can check out Cowboy Bebop: A Syndicate Story: Red Planet Requiem, a prequel novel that promises to “explore the rich history of Cowboy Bebop through the eyes of a young Spike Spiegel and Vicious.” Within the original anime, Spike and Vicious were partners until their relationship soured and turned them into bitter rivals. Presumably, the novel (written by series staff writer Sean Cummings) will chart the reasons behind their falling out.

Next up, writer Dan Watters and artist Lamar Mathurin will launch Cowboy Bebop: The Comic Series in December. Over the course of four issues set in 2171, readers will follow the Bebop’s crew as they “chase an ex-gang member who holds a vest which gives the wearer unlimited luck.” The series will feature covers by Stanley “Artgerm” Lau. All four issues will later be collected in a trade paperback in May 2022.

Finally, Cowboy Bebop: Making the Netflix Series will go behind the scenes of the show with new concept art and photography, along with interviews with several cast and crew members. The book also includes a forward written by showrunner André Nemec.

Cowboy Bebop will premiere on Netflix on November 19.
