Carl Weathers Says The Mandalorian Season 3 Starts Shooting Next Month

The Mandalorian wrapped up a lot of storylines at the end of season 2, so there’s really no telling what to expect from season 3. Regardless, cameras are getting ready to roll on the next chapter of Din Djarin’s story. According to Carl Weathers, filming on the new episodes is set to begin sometime next month.

Weathers shared this news during a recent appearance at Steel City Con (via Fandom Spotlite). He also revealed that he will be stepping behind the camera once again.

“And so now, we’re gonna start a new season of The Mandalorian, within the next month,” said Weathers. “Yeah. And I get to be in front of [the] camera again, and I get to direct again.”

Weathers made his Mandalorian directorial debut with “Chapter 12: The Siege,” which was one of the most action-packed episodes of season 2. It was also the last episode his character,  Greef Karga, appeared in.

Season 3 is likely going to bring many changes to the series. Presumably, we can rule out an appearance by Grogu/Baby Yoda, who was last seen flying off with Luke Skywalker in the season 2 finale. Beyond this, Greef is also in need of a new enforcer on Nevarro now that Gina Carano has been fired from the show.

Disney+ hasn’t announced a release date for The Mandalorian season 3. However, a late 2022 premiere seems likely.
