After taking a nearly one-month-long hiatus, The CW’s Superman and Lois is back. Episode 12 aired a few hours ago, and next week the thirteenth installment will follow. After that, the series will take a few weeks off once again as episode 14 will debut on Aug. 10. A new promo for the series shows the titular hero having visions about how his life would be if he had chosen not to dedicate his life to save humanity. The video features a glimpse at Superman wearing a black suit, winking at a similar scenario seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League earlier this year. Luckily, Lois is telling Clark that he has his heart in the right place.

Ian Samoil directed the episode written by Jai Jamison and Kristi Korzec. The official synopsis for “Fail Safe” reads:
“TENSION – Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) pays a visit to Morgan Edge (Adam Rayner). Meanwhile, Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Chrissy (guest star Sofia Hasmik) work together on a story. Lastly, Jonathan (Jordan Elsass) finds a welcome distraction during a very stressful school day. Elizabeth Tulloch, Jordan Elsass, Alex Garfin, Inde Navarette, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Erik Valdez, Dylan Walsh and Wole Parks also star.”
The next episode of Superman and Lois episode 8 will premiere on The CW on July 20.
