Guardians of the Galaxy introduced the Nova Corps to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, that film didn’t introduce Richard Rider, the primary Nova of Marvel’s comic book universe. However, it looks like Nova’s introduction to the MCU is going to happen at some point. During a new interview with Comic Book’s Phase Zero podcast, Marvel’s Kevin Feige appeared to indicate that Nova is still on the horizon.
When asked about Nova’s potential introduction in a supporting role or his own movie, Feige simply replied “yes.” He also said “yes” to the question of whether Richard Rider would be used, or if it would be his younger counterpart, Sam Alexander. But their introduction may be a few years off.
“Timing is relative, right?,” continued Feige. “I think I’d been talking about Doctor Strange eight years before that movie came out. So, ‘immediate potential’ is relative. But clearly, we are not shying away from the cosmic end of storytelling right in the sweet spot of the Nova Corps and Nova himself.”

A key part of Richard Rider’s origin may have already taken place off screen in Avengers: Infinity War. That film revealed that Thanos ravaged Xandar while claiming the Power Stone. In the comics, Rhomann Dey (the character played by John C. Reilly in Guardians Vol. 1), was among the last survivors of the Nova Corps. Dey recruited Rider as the new Nova before perishing. Years later, the Nova Corps was restored with additional members.
