BOOM! Studios Launches a New Kickstarter For Power Rangers Hardcover Set

For the last five years, fans of the classic Power Rangers lineup have gotten to relive their childhood memories thanks to BOOM! Studios’ Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic book series. After 55 issues, the series finally came to an end last fall. However, BOOM! has announced plans to commemorate its historic run by bundling these stories together in a colorful package. The publisher has just launched a new Kickstarter campaign to collect its Power Rangers series in six limited-edition hardcover volumes.

The hardcovers include all 55 issues of the main series, plus assorted tie-in issues from other series like Go-Go Power Rangers. Readers can order the books individually or purchase one of three different complete editions exclusive to the campaign. There’s the “Mighty” edition, where each cover displays an individual ranger out of costume. The “Morphin” edition gives each book its own slipcase that shows the ranger in costume. Finally, the “Megazord” edition adds acetate sleeves that feature energized Morphers and portions of the Megazord on the back.

BOOM! recruited Goñi Montes to handle the artwork for the books’ covers. They also tapped Nick Robles to design the “Mighty” edition’s collector box along with a standee for the “Megazord” version. As if this wasn’t excited enough, the company even asked the stars of the original TV series to get in on the fun. Some backers will be lucky enough to receive books signed by Jason David Frank (Green), Amy Jo Johnson (Pink), David Yost (Blue), Walter Jones (Black), Karan Ashley (Yellow), and Steve Cardenas (Red). Other options (or “tiers”) include bonus goodies like signed prints, enamel pins, and more.

Because of the series’ popularity, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that BOOM! has already smashed its original $50,000 goal. So far, the campaign has made over $140,000 and counting. More details can be found here.
