Patty Jenkins Says She Has ‘Two More Stories’ for Wonder Woman

What’s the future of Wonder Woman in the DC Extended Universe? The second standalone movie is a few hours from hitting streaming and theaters stateside, but it seems that Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins is already looking ahead. While talking with EW, Jenkins revealed that she actually planned more than three movies focusing on Diana Prince.

“The story continues after this in movies that I may or may not direct, but I have two more stories that become the completion of this story and it’s all about women stepping in as women, in the most loving, kind, pure and natural way,” she said. “And making a difference in the world without having to change who they are to do it.”

The news of a potential quadrilogy comes as a surprise to many, since it previously sounded like Jenkins planned a trilogy.

At the moment, both Diana Prince’s role in Warner Bros.’ plans and Jenkins’ future in the DCEU are still nebulous. Not that long ago, Jenkins teased that she may direct Diana’s third solo adventure, but after taking a break from the franchise. On that same occasion, she implied that it would likely be the last time fans will see her helming a movie in the DC Universe. However, the director herself recently stated that she is unsure if she will be back for another, given the current state of theatrical releases. Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot confirmed that she would be more than happy to shoot a third movie with Jenkins, but she insisted that the deal is far from being done.

In the US, Wonder Woman 1984 will debut on HBO Max and theaters on Christmas Day.
