HBO has released a brand new promo for the upcoming fourth episode of His Dark Materials Season 2. In the last installment, Lyra met Lord Boreal, who stole the alethiometer from her. While the young protagonist and Will tried their best to get their hands back on the precious item, it was to no avail. Eventually, Lord Boreal offered to return the alethiometer if Lyra and Will would bring him something hidden in the Torre degli Angeli — or Tower of the Angels — in Cittagàzze: a knife.
The knife Lord Boreal wants is the subtle knife, a weapon made by philosophers of Cittàgazze. This knife’s blade is so sharp that it can even open a gash between one world and another. Without revealing too much for those who haven’t read the books yet, someone named Giacomo Paradisi is keeping the knife away from people who want to take it. And it looks like Lyra and Will might have to meet the knife’s bearer soon.

Leanne Welham directed the episode written by Namsi Khan and Jack Thorne. The official synopsis of “Tower of the Angels” reads:
“Will and Lyra make a plan, unaware of the dangers or the cost involved.”
His Dark Materials Episode 2.04 will air on HBO and HBO Max on Dec. 7.
