WGA Reveals Writers For The Mandalorian Season 2

Considering how big The Mandalorian is, it’s easy to assume that its writers room has a large staff. But as it turns out, the creative team is relatively small. Only three writers were needed to preside over Din Djarin and The Child’s latest adventures.

The Writers Guild of America recently updated its page for The Mandalorian to show who wrote each episode of the upcoming second season. As with season 1, showrunner Jon Favreau wrote six of the eight new episodes, including the season premiere and the finale. Series vets Rick Famuyiwa and Dave Filoni also penned their own episodes. Filoni previously confirmed to Deadline that he directed the episode that he wrote. It’s currently unclear if the same can be said of Famuyiwa. But since Famuyiwa also co-wrote and directed season 1’s “The Prisoner,” it’s a safe bet that he pulled double duty for season 2 as well.

This lineup is virtually identical to that of season 1. The only real difference is that Christopher Yost’s name is nowhere to be found in these new credits. Last year, Yost wrote the story for “The Prisoner” and co-wrote the episode’s teleplay with Famuyiwa. Additionally, season 2 will also put Favreau in The Mandalorian’s director’s chair for the first time after The Lion King kept him from helming an episode of season 1. Peyton Reed, Robert Rodriguez, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Carl Weathers also directed their own episodes of the new season.

The Mandalorian season 2 hits Disney+ on October 30.
