Yesterday, HBO Max revealed that The Suicide Squad director James Gunn would direct an eight-episode Peacemaker series that will feature John Cena as the titular hero. Shortly after the news made the headlines worldwide, Gunn took on Twitter for a Q&A session with the fans.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director said that he would do the series in between the third installment and his upcoming The Suicide Squad. And he also revealed that he had the time to write the series because COVID forced him to stay at home.

Cena will be hardly the first former pro-wrestler whom Gunn has worked with, given that he is also working side by side with Dave Bautista in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. However, the director confessed that he has never seen them clashing in WWE.

The director also revealed that the official timeline of the Peacemaker series would be announced only after The Suicide Squad hits theaters on Aug. 6, 2021, presumably to preserve suspense as to whether the character lives or dies. Gunn added that the superhero created by writer Joe Gill and artist Pat Boyette was the one who excited him most creatively when DC asked him to write a superhero series.
HBO Max has yet to announce the official release date of the Peacemaker series.
