Sigourney Weaver Does Underwater Stunts in Avatar Sequel Photos

It’s been a while since the production of the Avatar sequels has resumed after being shut down due to the ongoing COVID-19 health emergency. Even though Disney pushed back the release of Avatar 2 to 2022, new promotional materials post on the Internet from time to time. Actress Sigourney Weaver features in the latest photos from the Avatar sequels set. In the first, she is going underwater to film a stunt for a scene from the upcoming movie. In the following one, she is giving the thumbs up. A lot of details about the sequels are still under wraps, but it’s known that the story will feature aquatic action, as well as Jake and Neytiri’s children.

Many people believe that the freshly-released material came from Avatar 2. Still, there is no way to be sure about that since director James Cameron is filming four back-to-back sequels to 2009’s epic science fiction blockbuster. Weaver’s Dr. Augustine died during the events of 2009’s Avatar, but it looks like she’s wearing a mo-cap suit, so she might return in a Na’vi body. The sequels will also see the return of cast members like Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, Stephen Lang, and Matt Gerald.

According to Disney’s plans, Avatar 2 will hit theaters on December 16, 2022.
