Amazon Orders the Adaptation of Image Comics’ Paper Girls to Series

Many fans were waiting for it, and it’s happening at last. Amazon is going to adapt Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang’s Paper Girls into a series. The mystery sci-fi comic book series published by Image Comics’ follows the story of four teenage girls who find themselves caught up in a war between time-traveling factions. The Amazon project sees Toy Story 4 co-writer Stephany Folsom — who also wrote the adaptation — as a showrunner. He will work together with Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C. Rogers.

“As huge fans of what Brian and Cliff created in Paper Girls, we couldn’t be more excited by the opportunity to bring this incredible adventure to life,” said Folsom, Cantwell, and Rogers in a press release. “This is a story with so much heart, and so many unique colors and dimensions — our sincere hope is not only to do justice to the source material, but to make Paper Girls unlike anything else currently on TV.”

Vaughan — who also co-created Marvel’s Runaways, and Y: The Last Man at Vertigo — and Chiang are executive producers.
