Netflix has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming adaptation of The Old Guard. The teaser summarizes some crucial information about the action-packed story. Charlize Theron will play Andy, a well-skilled mercenary who leads a team of immortal warriors. She is also in charge of the training of KiKi Layne’s Nile, the newest member of the team. Through her life’s example, Andy will explain to the recruit that all that glitters is not gold and that immortality comes at a high price. Also, it is much harder to hide one’s abilities in a technology-heavy modern world.

The official synopsis for The Old Guard reads:
“Led by a warrior named Andy (Charlize Theron), a covert group of tight-knit mercenaries with a mysterious inability to die have fought to protect the mortal world for centuries. But when the team is recruited to take on an emergency mission and their extraordinary abilities are suddenly exposed, it’s up to Andy and Nile (KiKi Layne), the newest soldier to join their ranks, to help the group eliminate the threat of those who seek to replicate and monetize their power by any means necessary. Based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Greg Rucka and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball, Beyond The Lights), The Old Guard is a gritty, grounded, action-packed story that shows living forever is harder than it looks.”
Gina Prince-Bythewood is directing the movie from a script by comic book creator Greg Rucka, as he makes his feature screenplay debut. David Ellison produces together with Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger of Skydance.
The film will be available for streaming on Netflix starting July 10.
