Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse

Producer Pitched Prior Spider-Man Star Cameos for Into the Spider-Verse

We got really close to seeing perhaps the most epic Spider-Man related cameos ever in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. It wasn’t meant to be at the time, but perhaps it will happen in the near future. During the recent quarantine watch party, producer Christopher Miller revealed that he wanted to involve the three actors that portrayed the Web-Slinger in live-action on the big screen in recent years.

“We pitched the Sony brass an ambitious tag involving Spider-Ham, Tobey [Maguire], Andrew [Garfield], and Tom [Holland],” he said. “They felt it was ‘too soon.'”

Even though the plans didn’t materialize, fans can’t complain too much. After all, they got a lot of Spider-People all together in the same room, including Miles Morales, Peni Parker, and Spider-Man Noir. And, of course, Spider-Ham did his part in saving the Spider-Verse eventually. It seems that Sony chose to keep some surprises in store for the fans in the upcoming Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 sequel.

And perhaps it’s this kind of surprise that co-producer Phil Lord was talking about when he confessed to be really “pumped” for what is coming in the sequel. But fans will have to be very patient, since Sony has recently postponed its release to October 7, 2022, after the COVID-19 outbreak.

Would you have liked to see Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield cameos? Or do you agree that it would have been too soon? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
