Not even Barry Allen can outrun the coronavirus. Although The Flash already took a hit earlier this month when it was forced to stop production to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it looks like the series’ loyal viewers should prepare for even more disappointment. Variety is reporting that the upcoming season finale will air later in 2020.
The series apparently has enough episodes in the can to carry it through May 19. Unfortunately, the sixth season’s last episode isn’t among them. Although the report doesn’t specify a reason for the delay, it seems likely that the virus affected the Flash crew’s ability to complete post-production on the finale. The same thing happened with AMC’s The Walking Dead, which also recently postponed its season ender. Previously, The CW made the decision to delay the Flash episode that was originally supposed to air next week. The network still hasn’t given that episode a new airdate.

The Flash isn’t the only CW series whose finale is getting pushed back. Fans of Supernatural will also have to wait a longer to catch its series finale due to coronavirus-related work stoppages. Additionally, The CW is postponing Legacies’ second season finale as well. Surprisingly, the network has yet to make any similar announcements about its other Arrowverse shows, including Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow.
The Flash’s sixth season finale is still without a new premiere date.
