Idoine’s post also notably confirms that Dave Filoni will return to direct at least one of the new episodes. Filone previously made his live-action directorial debut with the inaugural season’s first and fifth chapters. The Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau and co-star Carl Weathers also stepped behind the camera for season 2. Last month, it was rumored that Logan director James Mangold and Robert Rodriguez would also helm their own episodes. However, Mangold himself debunked these reports.

Star Wars fans have a lot to look forward to when The Mandalorian comes back this fall. Several cast members have teased that Baby Yoda’s real name will finally be revealed. Additionally, it sounds like we can expect a rematch between Pedro Pascal’s bounty hunter and Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon. Esposito recently shared that his character will have an expanded role in the upcoming season. Plus, viewers may learn how he obtained the Darksaber, a weapon that first appeared on Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The Mandalorian’s second season will premiere on Disney+ this October.
