Linda Hamilton stars in Skydance Productions and Paramount Pictures' "TERMINATOR: DARK FATE."

Terminator: Dark Fate’s Linda Hamilton Talks Physical Challenges of Sarah Connor

Nearly 30 years after Terminator 2, longtime franchise star Linda Hamilton will reprise her role of Sarah Connor in the upcoming Terminator: Dark Fate. And when she accepted the job, she knew that it would be far from easy for her to play John Connor’s mother at the age of 60. In a recent interview with the New York Times, Hamilton revealed that she had to train in the desert, and the doctors put her on a regimen of supplements to build muscle.

“This was 10 times the effort I put into the second one,” Hamilton said. “I had a true village of experts trying to get the most out of this body, I don’t think there’s going to be one person who comes up to me who says, ‘You look so great for your age.’ I threw that into the Mississippi River, because that’s not what this is about. I want people to see me and go, ‘Oh my God, she got so old!’”

The actress went on to reveal that she had some health issues due to the extreme conditions she was working with.

“We had ear infections from being in the water for three weeks, and then they’d hang us upside down,” Hamilton said, before admitting that “It’s incredibly liberating to play someone of this age.”

As soon as Dark Fate wrapped, though, Hamilton admitted that she took a load off for a while.

“I spent three months on the couch eating pie, and then I woke up one morning and went, ‘Damn, that was fun!’,” Hamilton added. “It was the hardest thing, and the greatest thing. And isn’t that what we want?”
