Brandon Routh & Courtney Ford Are Leaving DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

Although DC’s Legends of Tomorrow won’t be back for its fifth season until next year, the show is going to be a part of the Crisis on Infinite Earths. However, it’s too soon to say if the Legends will emerge intact from the crossover. And at least two cast members are exiting the show this season.

Deadline is reporting that Brandon Routh and his wife, Courtney Ford, are set to leave Legends of Tomorrow. Routh originated his role as Ray Palmer/the Atom, in Arrow season 3. Routh reprised his part for four seasons of Legends of Tomorrow as well. Ford made her debut as Nora Darhk in the third season of Legends of Tomorrow. Ford became a series regular in the fourth season, as Nora and Ray explored their romantic feelings for each other.

“Brandon and Courtney have been invaluable members of the Legends family,” said series producers Phil Klemmer, Grianne Godfree, and Keto Shimizu in a statement to Deadline. “They have always brought a level passion and collaboration to their characters and to the show — both on and off the screen – that we deeply admire and for which we are eternally grateful.”

It’s unclear how long Routh and Ford will remain with the series in season 5. Routh will also play the Kingdom Come Superman in Crisis. Routh first portrayed the Man of Steel in Superman Returns in 2006. Caity Lotz and Dominic Purcell will be the only remaining original Legends of Tomorrow cast members upon Routh’s departure.

Legends of Tomorrow season 5 will premiere in early 2020.
