Comic-Con: WandaVision Cast Confirmed by Marvel

During their Comic-Con panel Marvel Studios has confirmed the cast of the Disney+ series WandaVision, which will feature Elizabeth Olson and Paul Bettany’s title characters, as well as Teyonah Parris as the grown up Monica Rambeau, who appeared as an 11-year-old in Captain Marvel, played by Akira Akbar. The show will arrive on Disney+ in Spring 2021!

In a recent interview with Variety, Olson revealed that the show will be set in the 1950’s, with filming scheduled to begin this fall.

“There’s quite a few other comic books that we’re pulling from and it’s going to be Wanda and the Vision, and I think at the Disney+ launch chat, they showed a photo of us in the ’50s,” Olsen said. “Paul [Bettany] and I are really excited. They have a great group of writers. I think it’s going to be a total of six hours.”

WandaVision will follow the story of Olson and Paul Bettany’s superhero characters Scarlet Witch and Vision from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series is expected to be the first show that Marvel Studios is producing for Disney+ with Jac Schaeffer (Captain Marvel) serving as the its producer, showrunner and writer.

It was previously confirmed by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige that the Marvel shows they are currently working on for Disney+ such as Falcon & Winter Soldier, Loki, and the Hawkeye series “will be equally important to the films ” and to the post-Endgame future of the superhero franchise.

Scarlet Witch and Vision were last seen in last summer’s blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War, though the duo parted on rather depressing terms. Scarlet Witch attempted, nay, destroyed the infinity stone inside Vision’s head, thus killing the man she loved. Except Thanos used the time stone in his gauntlet to undo her actions, which brought Vision back to life … but then he died again when Thanos removed the stone from his head and completed his quest to collect all the infinity stones. The infamous snap heard ’round the universe then effectively turned Scarlet Witch to ash.
