Elizabeth Hurley Cast as Morgan le Fay on Runaways Season 3

British actress Elizabeth Hurley is about to lend her bedazzling screen presence to the Marvel’s TV Universe. Variety reports that Hurley has joined the cast of Hulu’s Runaways. She’ll play Morgan le Fay on the show’s upcoming third season.

Hurley most recently appeared on the E! series The Royals, which aired four seasons from 2015 to 2018. Of course, her acting career spans more than three decades. She came to prominence in the late ‘90s and early 2000s for her film roles in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and Bedazzled. Hurley also had a recurring role on The CW’s Gossip Girl.

“Elizabeth Hurley is joining the Marvel Universe and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her portraying one of the most enchanting Marvel characters,” said executive producer Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb in a statement.

Created by Stan Lee and artist Joe Maneely, Morgan le Fay was introduced during the Atlas Comics era in the pages of Black Knight #1 in 1955. Lee and Maneely based the character on the witch from Arthurian legend. Their version of le Fay made her proper Marvel Comics debut in Spider-Woman #2 in 1978. Like her Arthurian counterpart, she is an enchantress who possesses an unmatched spell-casting ability. Since her first appearance, le Fay has frequently battled the Avengers and was once the lover of Doctor Doom.

Technically, Hurley won’t be the first actress to appear as Morgan le Fay in live-action. Jessica Walter played the sorceress in the 1978 Dr. Strange TV movie that starred Peter Hooten as Stephen Strange. That film was meant to lead into a full-fledged TV series, but CBS ultimately passed on the opportunity.
