Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Avengers: Endgame!
The Marvel Cinematic Universe began with Iron Man, but it won’t end with him. Robert Downey Jr. portrayed Tony Stark for 11 years in the MCU. For those of you keeping score at home, Downey appeared in 3 Iron Man movies, 4 Avengers films, Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and he made a cameo appearance in The Incredible Hulk.
However, Downey’s tenure came to a conclusion in Avengers: Endgame. With the snap of his fingers, Stark used the Infinity Gauntlet to defeat Thanos and save the world. But the Infinity Stones were never meant for humans to use. That’s why Stark perished soon after his ultimate act of heroism.

While Downey’s performance will clearly be missed by fans, Stark’s death will cause an even bigger void in the MCU. He was Earth’s best defender, and now he’s gone. Whatever comes next, Iron Man won’t be around to save the day.
In just a few weeks, Spider-Man: Far From Home will show fans what happened after Endgame. The trailers have already offered a glimpse of the world’s response to Stark’s sacrifice. But it hits Peter Parker even harder because he viewed Stark as a surrogate father and mentor. Now, Peter’s facing intense pressure to step up and fulfill Iron Man’s legacy.
In Superhero Hype’s latest video, we’re examining how Far From Home may serve as a blueprint for Iron Man’s continuing impact in the MCU. Tony Stark may be gone, but the legend of Iron Man will live forever!
