Emily Bett Rickards Announces Her Early Exit From Arrow

Next season will be the final bow for The CW’s Arrow. But one of the original stars of the series is leaving before the end. Emily Bett Rickards, the actress who plays Felicity Smoak, has announced that she will be exiting the show at the end of season 7.

Rickards broke the news with a post on her Instagram account, in which she shares her appreciation for her character and for the fans of the show.

Thanks to Arrow‘s flash forward scenes, Felicity’s survival in the present is assured. However, the future timeline may not be so kind for Felicity, especially if it continues in the eighth and final season. Fortunately, the show has already given a hint about what will happen to Felicity in the short term. A previous episode established that Felicity will go into hiding before her daughter, Mia is born.

Rickards originally had a much smaller role on Arrow, but she emerged as a fan favorite in the first season. Felicity became the third member of Team Arrow, and Olivier’s primary love interest. Thanks to the fan response, the Oliver and Felicity pairing displaced Oliver’s relationship with Laurel Lance. However, “Olicity” has since divided the show’s fandom as the series relentlessly revolved around it.
