Oscar Isaac Confirms Star Wars Episode IX is the End of the Skywalker Saga

The final chapter in the current Star Wars saga is only a few months away. While there are a lot of questions in regards to how things will wrap up, one thing seems to be certain. The Skywalker saga will wind down with Episode IX. Oscar Isaac, who portrays Poe Dameron in the films, confirmed that during a recent appearance on The Today Show.

“It is the end of the entire Skywalker saga,” he said. “Nine stories. This is the culmination of the entire thing. What J.J. (Abrams, director) has done, and the entire Lucasfilm team, is incredibly fulfilling. It’s also special for us because you get to learn a lot more things about these characters.”

Isaac couldn’t say anything about the film’s story or its secrets. However, he did talk about how Carrie Fisher, the late actress who portrayed Princess Leia. Previously unused footage of Fisher will be used in Episode IX.

“We’ve thought about her so much,” noted Isaac. “Her spirit is there (in the film). Her daughter, Billie Lourd, came back to play a part. Her spirit was there with us and we’re missing her.”

Episode IX may be the end for the Skywalkers, but it’s far from the end of the franchise. The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson is developing a new trilogy set in the Star Wars universe. In the meantime, Star Wars: Episode IX arrives in theaters on December 20.
