It’s been over a decade since Hellboy‘s last feature film, and he’s long overdue for a comeback! Although director Guillermo del Toro won’t be able to finish his trilogy, there’s a new Hellboy in town. David Harbour is taking over the role from Ron Perlman, and he’s going up against one of Hellboy’s most powerful foes: Nimue the Queen of Blood!
In British mythology, Nimue was the Lady in the Lake from in Arthurian tales. But in Mike Mignola’s comics, Nimue is the terrifying Blood Queen who wants to destroy humanity. Naturally, Hellboy has a probelm with that. He may be a demon, but he was raised among humans on Earth. And he may be the only capable of stopping Nimue from wiping out mankind.

Milla Jovovich costars in the film as Nimue; with Deadwood’s Ian McShane as Professor Trevor Bruttenholm, Hellboy’s adoptive father. Former Lost star Daniel Dae Kim is playing Ben Daimio of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. Sasha Lane is playing Alice, a woman who was kidnapped by fairies as a child. As an adult, Alice’s visions may hold the key to defeating Nimue. Thomas Haden Church is playing Lobster Johnson, a long dead vigilante whose spirit still lingers on this world.
Neil Marshall directed the Hellboy reboot from a script by Andrew Cosby. It will hit theaters on April 12.
