April Bowlby Will Stretch from Titans to Doom Patrol as Elasti-Woman

April Bowlby will reprise her role as Elasti-Woman in the DC Universe live-action series Doom Patrol, Deadline reports. Bowlby, who is best known for playing Stacy Barrett in all six seasons of Drop Dead Diva, will make her debut as Elasti-Woman in the upcoming Titans series.

Elasti-Woman, aka Rita Farr, is an actress on the rise who was exposed to a toxic gas that altered her cellular structure, giving her the power to boundlessly stretch her body. Picking up after the events of Titans, Elasti-Woman longed to relive her superhero stature to find a place among the Doom Patrol.

Doom Patrol is a re-imagining of one of DC’s most beloved group of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl, and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol’s members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities – but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence — and to protect Earth from what they find.

Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of Titans, Doom Patrol will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.

The Doom Patrol characters will appear in the fifth episode of Berlanti’s DC Universe live-action drama Titans, with Bruno Bichir, Bowlby, Jack Michaels, and Dwain Murphy starring. The direct-to-series order of 13 episodes will be written by Supernatural‘s Jeremy Carver and will be executive produced by Berlanti, Geoff Johns, Jeremy Carver, and Sarah Schechter. Doom Patrol will premiere on DC Universe in 2019.
