IMAX has announced today that the October 6 IMAX 2D release of Warner Bros. Pictures‘ Blade Runner 2049 will allow fans to experience more of the action than in any other format. Only in IMAX will the entire film be specially formatted and presented in an expanded 1.9:1 aspect ratio. This means that the movie will fill more of the screen, and fans will see 26% more of the image in IMAX than standard theaters. The IMAX release of Blade Runner 2049 will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
The film also stars Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, with Dave Bautista, Edward James Olmos and Jared Leto.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve from a screenplay by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, Blade Runner 2049 is based on characters from Philip K. Dick’s novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” The film produced by Andrew A. Kosove, Broderick Johnson, Bud Yorkin, and Cynthia Yorkin, and executive produced by Ridley Scott, Tim Gamble, Frank Giustra, Yale Badick, Val Hill, and Bill Carraro.
Blade Runner 2049 is coming to theaters on October 6, 2017.
