Charlize Theron Says ‘I’d Love To’ Do a Mad Max Prequel

Charlize Theron said she would ‘love’ to do a Mad Max prequel

Mad Max: Fury Road star Charlize Theron (who is about to appear in Atomic Blonde) would love to do a Mad Max prequel starring her character Imperator Furiosa, according to an interview with Variety. “I’d love to,” she told the site. “There were three scripts. They were written as back stories to Max’s character and to Furiosa’s character. But at the end of the day, this thing lives and breathes with [director] George [Miller]. I think Warner Bros. knows that. We are all waiting for him to show us the way.”

The Furiosa Mad Max prequel was considered as an anime as well at one point, but it never happened.

Mad Max: Fury Road, which opened in May of 2015, is the story of Max Rockatansky, played by Tom Hardy (InceptionThe Dark Knight Rises). Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There’s Max (Hardy), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos and Furiosa (Charlize Theron), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland. A Mad Max prequel might show us her life in The Green Place before she started working for Immortan Joe.

Mad Max: Fury Road also starred Nicholas Hoult (Warm BodiesX-Men: Days of Future Past), Hugh Keays-Byrne (Mad MaxSleeping Beauty), Nathan Jones (Conan the BarbarianTroy), Zoe Kravitz (DivergentX-Men: First Class), Riley Keough (The RunawaysMagic Mike) and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (Transformers: Age of Extinction).
