The Marvel August 2017 solicitations continue the company’s crossover miniseries event, Secret Empire. Written by Nick Spencer with art by Steve McNiven, the series has spun out of the current Captain America: Steve Rogers series after it was revealed that the character’s history has been altered and that he has secretly been an agent of HYDRA all this time.

“The Marvel Universe is under siege from within!” reads the official Secret Empire synopsis. “Due to the manipulations of The Red Skull, Captain America, secretly a true believer in the cause of Hydra, uses the trust and respect he has gained over the years to a position where he can enacts Hydra’s ideals against the Marvel Universe and it’s up to all heroes to unite against one of the greatest challenges they have ever faced.”

The Marvel August 2017 solicitations also concludes the Thor: Ragnarok prelude miniseries, setting the stage for the Marvel Cinematic Universe “Phase Three” release. Starring Chris HemsworthTom HiddlestonMark Ruffalo, Cate Blanchett, Anthony Hopkins, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban, Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi and will hit the big screen November 3.

Among the below Marvel August 2017 solicitations, you’ll also find the new series of specials, Generations, which brings together Miles Morales and Peter Parker, Laura Kinney and Logan, Amadeus Cho and Bruce Banner, and many more, and illuminates the path that all these heroes will take into the future for a thrilling quest.
