Calista Flockhart is back as Cat Grant for the end of Supergirl season 2
Calista Flockhart (Brothers & Sisters, Ally McBeal) will return as Cat Grant for the final episodes of Supergirl season 2, according to TVLine. This news comes after this morning’s info about Tyler Hoechlin returning as Superman in the season finale of The CW show.
There is no information about why Cat is back at CatCo, or even if that’s where she’ll be. As you know, Cat Grant is the head of CatCo, the huge media conglomerate in the DCTV universe. Kara Danvers, a.k.a. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) is currently employed as a reporter there, after working as Cat Grant’s assistant in season 1. Flockhart appeared in the first two episodes of Supergirl season 2, then left to pursue other interests. She left James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) in charge in the meantime. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg stated back in October that he hoped Flockhart would return, though it was a matter of scheduling.
Supergirl is still on hiatus but will return April 24 with an all-new episode. Titled “Ace Reporter,” the episode is officially described as follows:
“Lena’s (guest star Katie McGarth) ex-boyfriend, Jack Spheer (guest star Rahul Kohli), comes to National City to unveil his big breakthrough in nano-technology, which has the potential to eradicate all diseases. Lena asks Kara to attend Jack’s conference with her for support. When Kara sees Snapper (guest Star Ian Gomez) in attendance she’s inspired to tap back into her reporter skills and questions Jack on his discovery, which ultimately leads to a bigger investigation that puts everyone in danger.”
