Awkward’s Ashley Rickards will play a female version of the classic Flash villain, The Top
Another classic DC Comics foe is headed to The CW‘s The Flash, albeit in a form never before seen in the comics. According to E!, Awkward star Ashley Rickards will play the supervillain known as The Top.
Created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino, The Top made his comic book debut in 1962’s The Flash #122. A two-bit criminal named Roscoe Dillon gained the ability to spin at super-speed and took on the identity of Top. His spinning wound up altering his mind, giving him super intelligence and, later, psionic abilities. The Ashley Rickards version of the Top goes by the name Rosalind “Rosa” Dillon and will be teamed with Mirror Master in episode 3×04. According to the original report, the Top will be “the Bonnie to Mirror Master’s Clyde”. The Mirror Master role was set last week with the announcement that Grey Damon (Aquarius, Friday Night Lights) will play the classic comic book bad guy.
It is also being reported that The Flash episode 3×04 will see the return of Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold.
The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramo, Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells and Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West. Season 2 of the series also introduced Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West and the Earth-2 version of The Flash as played by John Wesley Shipp (who also played Barry’s father, Henry Allen). The Flash Season 3 premiere is already set to debut on The CW on Tuesday, October 4 at 8 PM ET.
