Batman v Superman Edges Closer to $300 Million but Loses Weekend to The Boss

Batman v Superman edges closer to $300 Million

While the question of who would win in a slugfest between Batman and Superman may have been answered (sort of), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice had a new battle at the box office when it took on Melissa McCarthy’s new R-rated comedy The Boss this weekend.

It may be too close to tell from the weekend estimates, but Universal Pictures seem to have taken a slight advantage with $23.49 million compared to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which had another substantial 53% plunge in its third weekend for an estimated $23.43 million.

That’s right. McCarthy’s movie is said to be winning the weekend by just $60,000, making it one of the closest races for #1 in a very long time.

While that’s all worked out, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice edges closer to $300 million domestically with $297 million so far.

Internationally, the superhero slugfest added another $34 million this weekend in 67 markets bringing its overseas total to $487 million and about $784 million globally in three weeks.

Check back tomorrow to see how Zack Snyder’s latest fared after actual box office is reported.
