Welcome… to the Official Jurassic World Site

Universal Studios has launched the official website for the upcoming fourth “Jurassic Park” film, Jurassic World! The site features a number of interesting things such as the current weather conditions at the fictional theme park, a running ticker of news and tips for visitors, and a clock counting down to 10 days from now, which would appear to be when we’ll be getting the first trailer for the upcoming film. You can visit that website by clicking here.

In addition, a viral site for “Masrani Global,” the fictional company run by Irrfan Khan’s Simon Masrani in the film, was also launched revealing a number of interesting details about the film and its connectivity to the rest of the series. Under the “About” section of the company we’re given a brief history of Masrani, which started as a communications company in 1973 and “began talks to acquire International Genetic Technologies” in 1997 following the death of Richard Attenborough’s John Hammond (and coinciding just after the events of The Lost World: Jurassic Park).

The site goes on to write, “By 1998 InGen was under the Masrani umbrella and the years from 2002 to 2004 would help lead the Masrani company on their biggest adventure yet: the construction of Jurassic World on Isla Nublar,” this timetable ties into 2001’s Jurassic Park III where Alan Grant and company ran into the Spinosaurus, which they note wasn’t on InGen’s list of dinosaurs. “Which makes you wonder what else they were up to,” Sam Neil’s character ponders.

A number of other details about “Jurassic World” are revealed on the site, including quotes from Masrani and others.

“The most incredible thing about the project for me was the fact that we were able to construct so far off the mainland, while maintaining all deadlines”, explains Jurassic World Project Manager Mr. Eli Jacobs. “The logistics and the planning were just incredible. Security teams, perimeter fencing, scientists, quarantine zones … it was quite the atmosphere.”

Simon adds, “The sense of security proved vital in the establishment of Jurassic World. The media were having a frenzy at the time, conservation groups around the globe were looking and waiting for any incident to tarnish our reputation to try and take Isla Nublar away from us. We had to set a feeling of safety, for when the time came for opening in 2005, we had to ensure people were willing to come.”

The site notes that “Jurassic World officially opened in June 2005 to an incredible 98,120 visitors in its first month of operation.”

Other tidbits of info include: a nod to the Isla Nublar native Brown Pelican, as seen at the end of the original Jurassic Park; that the company is expecting their 10 millionth visitor to “Jurassic World” in 2015, a year in which they will also be taking genetics “to the next level” (seemingly confirming earlier rumors that the film would feature a dinosaur created from splicing multiple different strands of DNA together); plus our very first look at the only returning cast member, BD Wong, as Dr. Henry Wu. Opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters on June 12, 2015, the anticipated movie stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, Jake Johnson, Nick Robinson, Irrfan Khan, Vincent D’Onofrio, BD Wong, Omar Sy, Judy Greer, Katie McGrath, Lauren Lapkus and Andy Buckley.
