John Cho ‘Confident’ in Roberto Orci Directing Star Trek 3, Says He Will ‘Blow People Away’

Despite all of the rumors surrounding the film, little is known about the upcoming third (or thirteenth) Star Trek film, which is currently in development at Paramount Pictures. A draft of the script has been completed by screenwriter Roberto Orci along with writers Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne, which Orci also plans to direct.

Taking part in a Reddit AMA a few days ago, actor John Cho, who plays Hikaru Sulu in the films, was asked what he thought of Orci directing the third outing:

“I’m absolutely confident in Bob. No one knows these characters better than Bob. And no one knows the Star Trek universe better than Bob. I think he’s going to blow people away. And I don’t know anything about Star Trek 3…. I’m guessing I’m in it? I just went in for a costume fitting.”

There’s no announced timeframe for the next “Star Trek” film as of yet, but the expectation is that the new film will land in theaters in 2016, just in time for the franchise’s 50th Anniversary.
