Game of Thrones Season Five Directors Announced

Expected to premiere its fifth season in April of 2015, HBO has today revealed to EW the five directors that will helm all ten episodes. This time around, HBO is setting some new talent loose in Westeros. Michael Slovis (“Breaking Bad”) will direct episodes one and two, Mark Mylod (“Shameless”) will take on three and four, Jeremy Podeswa (“Boardwalk Empire”) will helm five and six, Miguel Sapochnik (“Fringe”) will handle seven and eight while David Nutter, the only name on the list to have previously directed “Thrones” episode, will round out the season with episodes nine and ten.

“Game of Thrones” will be hosting a panel on the fifth season as part of the series’ Comic-Con festivities. Check back next Friday, July 25 for full coverage from the Hall H panel!

Based on the popular book series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” by George R.R. Martin, the hit Emmy-winning fantasy series chronicles an epic struggle for power in a vast and violent fantasy kingdom. Members of the ensemble cast include Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kit Harington, Natalie Dormer, Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner. The executive producers are David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield, and co-executive producers are Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis and George R.R. Martin.
